Most universities look at your total cognitive score, but Western Sydney University appears to build its own score out of 900 by weighting the three cognitive subtests differently. WSU does not publish the exact split. In the 2026 round it looks like Verbal Reasoning carried 50%, with Decision Making and Quantitative Reasoning 25% each, and Situational Judgement left out. Earlier rounds appeared to weight VR at around 60%. This calculator uses the 2026 split of 50/25/25.
Because DM and QR are weighted the same, this calculator only needs two numbers from you: your total cognitive score and your VR score. Your combined DM and QR is simply your total minus your VR, which is all the formula needs. In practice the weighted score works out to (VR + total) ÷ 4.
Because VR appears to be weighted so heavily, your overall percentile can be misleading for WSU. A strong VR score lifts your weighted score well above what your total alone would suggest, and a weak VR drags it down. If WSU is your target, VR is the subtest worth the most preparation time. Once you clear the ATAR threshold, your ATAR plays no further part. WSU sends roughly 450 interview invitations each year, decided only by your weighted UCAT score. The thresholds differ by applicant category, which is why this tool asks where you live.
After interviews, the final offer is based 75% on your interview performance and 25% on your weighted UCAT score.

DM and QR are weighted the same, so the calculator only needs their combined value. That value is your total cognitive score minus your VR score, which means your total and VR are all it needs.
It depends on your category. In the 2026 round the cutoff appeared to be 789 for GWS applicants and 819 for non-GWS NSW applicants. Interstate applicants need roughly 851 or higher to be in contention. These are estimates, not official cut-offs, and they move each year.
