Frequently asked questions

Is your course designed for top achievers only?

Our course is designed for anyone studying Chemistry in NSW. All lessons cover content at the syllabus level, but the speed at which information is delivered may vary depending on the prior knowledge and confidence of the student/class. Some school-specific classes may teach extension content, if this is expected knowledge at school.

Is the program tailored to my school's sequence and assessments?

Yes. Lessons can be aligned to the order in which your school teaches modules, upcoming assessments and the areas you find most challenging. This ensures tutoring is relevant to what you are learning now, while still building the deeper understanding needed for final HSC exams.

What is the difference between 1-on-1 and small-group tutoring?

1-on-1 tutoring offers a fully personalised pace, with every lesson centred on the student's individual strengths, gaps and goals. Small-group tutoring provides the same structured support in a collaborative setting, where students can learn through discussion, compare approaches and build confidence with peers. There is plenty of individual tutor attention in our small-group classes.

Can I join partway through the year or during a module?

Yes. Students can join flexibly throughout the year! If you wish to join a group class, we may recommend 1 on 1 tutoring initially, to catch up on the missed content, and allow for seamless integration into the class henceforward.

What happens if I miss a Chemistry lesson?

If you're a 1-on-1 student, it's simple, just reschedule with your tutor. If you're in a group class, you have many options. Firstly, subject to tutor availability, we may arrange a catch-up class. Secondly, if this is not possible, a lesson-recording can be sent to you.

How does the program improve exam technique?

Strong Chemistry results require more than knowing the content. Students learn how to interpret NESA verbs, structure extended responses, approach unfamiliar calculations, communicate scientific reasoning clearly and avoid common errors under exam conditions.

How are topic tests and feedback used?

At the end of each module, students complete HSC-style topic tests that are marked with feedback. Results are then reviewed in class, turning mistakes into clear next steps before the next module begins.

Is there a free trial or lock-in contract?

Voyager Academy does not offer free trial lessons. Instead, students/parents can book a free 15-minute strategy consultation to discuss goals and determine the most suitable support. With all our courses, there is no lock-in contract, so students can leave the program at any time if it is no longer the right fit.
